sometimes a small job becomes a bigger problem…
What started as routine excavation work at a campsite quickly became something rather more urgent when an underground live gas line was accidentally damaged. With the gas supply shut down and the site left without service, I was called in to assess the damage and carry out the necessary repair.
Jobs like this are a good reminder that the work doesn’t always happen in a clean workshop or on a planned shutdown. Sometimes it means getting into a muddy hole, dealing with an unexpected problem and finding a safe, practical solution with what you’ve got in front of you. Being prepared to adapt is just as important as the welding itself.
The damaged section was repaired, the line was able to be returned to service, and what began as a fairly bad day for the customer ended with the problem solved and the site back up and running.
